GPC is seeking candidates for two New Board of Directors
The Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC) Board of Directors plays a critical role in shaping the future of the organization by providing strategic direction, oversight, and stewardship to ensure continued impact and value for GPC members.
GPC is seeking to appoint two (2) new Directors to the Board. As part of its ongoing commitment to strong governance and effective board composition, the Board is seeking candidates who bring a complementary mix of skills, experience, and perspectives.

Desired Skills and Experience
In this recruitment cycle, preference will be given to candidates who bring experience in a combination of the following areas:
- Human Resources (strong experience preferred)
- Risk management and oversight
- Financial expertise
- Public issuer / publicly listed company experience
- Bilingualism (English/French), with particular interest in candidates based in or connected to Quebec
The Board is seeking to achieve a balanced composition across sectors, including both public issuer and not-for-profit experience, and encourages candidates who can contribute across multiple of the above areas.
Previous board experience is considered an asset, but is not required.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer role requiring:
- Attendance at a minimum of four (4) Board meetings annually
- Participation in two (2) strategic planning sessions
- Service on at least one Board Committee (minimum four (4) meetings annually)
- Attendance at the Annual Corporate Governance Conference and the Excellence in Governance Awards

Candidate Profile
The GPC Board seeks individuals who demonstrate:

- A collaborative and collegial approach to governance
- Strong communication skills
- Tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
- High ethical standards, integrity, and credibility
All candidates will be reviewed by the Governance and Nominations Committee, with consideration given to the overall mix of skills and experience required to support effective Board governance.
Directors are elected by GPC members for a one-year term and are eligible for re-election annually.
